Associate Lawyer - Canadian Office

Bio

Omar El Sharkawy is a licenced Ontario lawyer, having completed his degree at Osgoode Hall Law School in 2025. He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in June 2026. In his undergraduate years, he attended the University of Toronto, where he read history and classical studies, earning three awards for excellence in historical studies and graduating with High Distinction. His interest in historical inquiry and research has informed his interest in contextual interpretation and exacting research. Several of Omar’s history articles and projects were published during his undergraduate tenure. Omar subsequently studied law at Osgoode, where he was awarded the Fasken and Allen M. Linden Prizes for placing first in his class in Torts, was an associate editor for the Osgoode Law Journal, co-founded the campus Film Club, and ran the student newspaper, Obiter Dicta.

Prior to joining Rashidy & Associates, Omar worked in the immigration desk at Parkdale Legal Services, where he fostered his skills in high-stakes and sensitive legal work. He undertook his articles at a leading Toronto litigation firm thereafter, sharpening his proficiency in cases that went before several different tribunals and the Federal Court.

Outside the law, Omar keeps to his interest in history through avid reading, indulges in the best of classic cinema, keeps retrying his hand at film photography, and enjoys an odd game of squash or billiards.
